Located at the height of 1200m above sea level, Punakha offers a mesmerising view of the Himalayas.It is also fertile as the two rivers - Po Chhu and Mo Chhu converge here in the Punakha Valley making it an excellent terrain for rice cultivation. Located at a proximal distance from Thimphu around 72kms, Punakha can be reached within 3 hours. It is usually warmer in Punakha as compared to Thimphu or Paro, making it an ideal destination any time of the year.Punakha was the former capital of Bhutan until 1955 which was later given to Thimphu. The city is known to be situated at the height of about 2280 metres on the banks of Paro Chu river, which is spread across an area of 1259 sq.m. The Paro Chhu river is the lifeline of Paro, adding a glorious touch to it. Paro town was formed in the year 1985, which now consists of colourfully painted shops lined all across the street. Over the years, Paro has been transformed enormously, and this is one of the prime reasons for the increase in tourist activity.

Day 1 Arrival Bagdogra to Phuentsholing (4 Hrs drive)

Upon arrival at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station, you will be warmly received by our driver. The drive to Phuentsholing takes about four hours, following the Teesta River, passing through scenic tea gardens, and gradually ascending to the foothills of Bhutan. The ideal arrival time is before 1:00 PM to ensure a comfortable journey.
En route, you may take short breaks or continue driving through the small towns across the highways. On reaching Phuentsholing, our team will greet you and assist with the immigration formalities at the border. After completing the process, check in to a quiet and relaxing hotel to unwind and re-energize for the journey ahead.
Phuentsholing is one of the most vibrant border towns of Bhutan, home to many Bhutanese families and thriving business communities. In the evening, you may explore the town on foot, browse through shops offering imported garments, or local cuisine and drinks. The town is safe, lively, and offers a pleasant introduction to Bhutan.
Phuentsholing: Phuentsholing, opposite Jaigaon, is a bustling border town and Bhutan's trade gateway, where Bhutanese and Indian cultures blend vibrantly.
Evening if time permits visit Zangto Pelri Lhakhang, a serene temple in Phuentsholing, showcasing Guru Rinpoche, Bodhisattvas, Avalokiteshwara, Zhabdrung, and Buddha Amitabha. (D)

Day 2 Phuentsholing to Thimphu (5 Hrs)

Complete the immigration formalities before the journey. The road journey from Phuentsholing to Thimphu is a scenic five-hour drive, gradually ascending from subtropical plains to cool alpine hills. The route winds through dense forests, waterfalls, and charming mountain villages, offering breathtaking views of valleys and rivers, before reaching Bhutan's serene capital, Thimphu, nestled in the Himalayas.
Stops en route: Tea/coffee breaks, photo opportunities at waterfalls and villages.
Chuzom (confluence of Thimphu & Paro rivers): A tri-junction where highways meet; enjoy the welcome portraits of Bhutan's King and Queen.
Explore Thimphu by Walk: If time permits, stroll Thimphu's vibrant streets, explore handicrafts, souvenirs, imported goods, and experience modern Bhutanese life. Overnight at 2,400m altitude.(B,D)

Day 3 Thimpu Sightseeing

Thimphu - This vibrant city is Bhutan's center of commerce, religion, and government. While it is the most modern city in the country, with a variety of restaurants, internet cafes, shopping centers, and nightlife, Thimphu still beautifully retains its cultural identity and traditional values. Often called the world's only capital without traffic lights, it offers a unique blend of modernity and tradition.
Memorial Chorten: Built in memory of Bhutan's third king, it is dedicated to world peace and is one of Thimphu's most iconic landmarks.
Buddha Dordenma: A massive golden statue overlooking Thimphu Valley, located at Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park.
Motithang Takin Preserve: Motithang Takin Preserve, near BBS tower, is a wildlife reserve in Thimphu, home to Bhutan's national animal, the unique Takin.
Wangditse Hike: Drive above Thimphu, visit Motithang Takin Reserve to see the national animal, Drong Gemtse, with cow's body, goat's head.

Day 4 Thimphu to Punakha (2 Hrs)

Begin the scenic two-hour drive from Thimphu to Punakha, crossing the iconic Dochula Pass at 3,100 meters, where 108 chortens and panoramic Himalayan views await. After a refreshing break, the road winds down into the lush Punakha Valley, one of Bhutan's warmest and most picturesque regions, blessed with fertile fields and stunning landscapes.
Dochula Pass: This panoramic location offers stunning views of the Himalayan range, especially on clear winter days. The pass is adorned with 108 chortens.
Punakha Dzong: Punakha Dzong, the ''Palace of Great Happiness,'' a 17th-century architectural masterpiece at Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers' confluence.
Punakha Suspension Bridge: One of Bhutan's longest bridges, connecting Punakha Dzong to nearby villages. Overnight at 1,350m.(B,D)

Day 5 Punakha to Paro (3 hrs)

The journey from Punakha to Paro retraces the route via Dochula Pass, offering another chance to admire its 108 chortens and sweeping Himalayan views. Continuing through Chuzom, where rivers meet, the road leads into the serene Paro Valley. This scenic drive blends mountain vistas, cultural landmarks, and tranquil landscapes, making the journey as delightful as the destination.
Paro Dzong: Known as the ''Fortress on a Heap of Jewels,'' this 17th-century Dzong is an architectural masterpiece.
Ta Dzong: Originally built as a watchtower, it now houses Bhutan's National Museum, showcasing artifacts and historical items.

Day 6 Paro sightseeing

Paro Valley is Bhutan's cultural heartland, enchants visitors with its serene landscapes, ancient monasteries, and traditional villages. Home to the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery, it offers rich history, vibrant festivals, and charming farmhouses. Tourists can expect breathtaking hikes, sacred sites, colorful markets, and warm hospitality, all set amidst lush valleys, crystal-clear rivers, and snow-capped Himalayan backdrops.
Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest): It is Bhutan's most iconic landmark and religious Buddhist site in the world. The name Taktsang translates to The Tiger's Nest. The temple is one of the holiest sites in Bhutan which clings impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the valley. Although good trekkers can make it to the top in two hours, most of the guests take whole day to complete the hike. Overnight in Paro.

Bhutan From Bagdogara Tour Package Terms & Conditions

  • One can enroll His/Her name for the tour by paying 50% of the total tour cost for any tour as advance. The balance amount must be paid at least 45 days before schedule date of departure of the tour, without waiting for reminder from our side. We reserve the right to cancel the tour, alter the routes, carriers, time-tables, itinerary and accommodation without prior notice.
  • Tourist travels at their own risk. Neither the tour operator nor their representatives or staff accept any liabilities or responsibilities for any damage, loss, injury, accident, death etc, during the tour howsoever it might have caused.
  • It is necessary to book at least 120 days in advance before the schedule departure of the tour. We do not accept any responsibilities and liabilities for the railway tickets of the passengers who book with us for less than 120 days from the scheduled departure of the train. If we have to make any alternate arrangement, then the extra cost of making alternate arrangement should be borne by the passengers only.
  • Berth Nos. & Coach Nos. of Railway Tickets are allotted by the computer and therefore passengers have to accept as they are given.
  • There will be NO SERVICES & MEALS DURING TRAIN / BUS JOURNEYS.
  • Any increase in Air / Bus Fares should be borne by the passenger only.
  • We have published the names of the Hotels for each tour, even though we reserve the right to change the same, if the accommodation is not available in the Identified / Specified Hotel for the particular package tour due to reasons beyond our control. We shall make all our best efforts to shift the passengers to the Hotel maintaining / having more or less the same standards. No refund will be allowed when we have provided alternative / similar accommodation. The rooms shall be allotted as per the check-in time of the respective Hotels, and they shall have to be vacated as per the check-out time of the Hotel.
  • The management reserves the right to take all necessary steps including suspending the passengers who creates trouble for the management or to the other fellow passengers.
  • If due to any reason beyond our control like riots, accidents, flood, political unrest, bandh calls or any natural, or man made calamities, the tour programme needs to be changed or extended, then the additional expenditure for the same will be borne by the passengers. If any passenger has to leave the tour mid way due to any reason, then there shall be no refund for the remaining part of the tour and the expenses for returning back shall also be borne by the passengers only.
  • If due to any reason beyond our control, we have to cancel some sight seeing places, there shall be no refund for the same. If a tour is cancelled from our part then the cost and responsibility of organising the new tour will be of passengers only.
  • Any complain regarding our services like Hotels, Bus, etc, passengers are advised to inform our office immediately by Phone / Fax so that the same can be re-addressed on the spot, no complains or refund for the same be entertained after completion of the tour.
  • Any dispute / claims subject to Surat Jurisdiction.
  • Any change / additional Govt. Service tax levied must born by the passengers.
  • Timings mentioned in the itinerary for the Bus / Flight journey are estimated only. There are frequent chances of delay in arrival / departure at destination due to various reasons.
  • Postponement of journey is not allowed. It will be treated as cancellation and accordingly the cancellation charges will be applicable.
  • Preponement of journey is not allowed. It will be treated as cancellation and accordingly the cancellation charges will be applicable.
  • Child (5-11 yrs) with extra bed rate will be given only mattress in the parents room. Child up to 4 years will not be given any extra bed and no seats in train and bus.
  • There will be NO refund for any unutilized service on the tour.

  • We are Travel Agent and Holiday Organizers only and act as an agent for clients on one side and the operator of the various facilities on the other side in the best interest of the clients. We do not own any Hotel & do not operate or control any Airlines, other services like transport services / guides, Although we try our best to arrange and render best services yet we do not hold any responsibility on any account whatsoever of the performance of the Hotels, Airlines, Guide Services, Transport Services, opening of the sightseeing places, other services or anything else on which we do not have direct control. We do not bear any responsibility & shall not be liable, whatsoever for any dissatisfaction, loss of life and property, death, damages etc. Caused by the act or default or management or employees of such independent contractors and also any consequences arising out of natural calamities, strikes, breakdown and facilities, accidents, negligence, delay in services of all concerned and for any act of omission or inconveniences caused in connection with the travel facility etc. We shall not be responsible for any loss / damage / claim / financial compensation and any liability in any form / in any respect and on any account whatsoever. It is advisable to take comprehensive insurance including illness, accidental or anyother events.

Cancellation Charges:-


  • If the Guest decides to cancel the tour for any reason whatsoever then s/he shall give a written application to the Company within specified time limit along with original receipt issued by the Company. Such cancellation will attract cancellation charges stated hereunder.
  • Cancellation charges will be calculated on gross tour cost and the cancellation charges shall depend on date of departure and date of cancellation
  • Cancellation charges for any type of transport ticket are applicable as per the rules of the concerned authority.
  • Air tickets issued on special fares are NON REFUNDABLE and Guest shall bear cancellation charges.
  • Any refund payable to the Guest will be paid after the Company receives refund from the respective authorities. The Company deducts processing charges from the refund to be paid to the Guest.
